La sfida gallese delle tre cime

Potresti aver sentito parlare delle tre cime "nazionali" di Yr Wyddfa, Scafell Pike e Ben Nevis e forse delle Tre Cime dello Yorkshire, ma le Tre Cime gallesi sono probabilmente meno conosciute. È anche pensato per essere completato entro 24 ore, ma con molta meno guida rispetto alla versione del Regno Unito, con forse la differenza principale che stai scambiando direttamente 7 km e 400 m di salita su Pen y Fan con l'equivalente del Ben Nevis di 16 km e 1300 m leggermente più difficile.
Il nostro epico weekend ti vedrà guidato verso ciascuna delle tre montagne, completamente supportato fino alla vetta di ciascuna e poi un buon riposo notturno e un drink celebrativo saranno in ordine presso il nostro alloggio a Brecon.

La Sfida si svolgerà nel seguente ordine.
Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), è la montagna più alta del Galles, ad un'altitudine di 1.085 metri (3.560 piedi) sul livello del mare, e il punto più alto delle isole britanniche al di fuori delle Highlands scozzesi, la montagna più trafficata di un miglio di campagna che affronta per primo il giorno, ammirando una splendida alba se le condizioni sono giuste

Cadair Idris (Penygader), una delle montagne più belle del Galles, ad un'altitudine di 893 m (2.930 piedi) sul livello del mare, Cadair Idris significa "Sedia di Idris" presente nella canzone Men of Harlech che dicono se passi una notte a in vetta o ti sveglierai pazzo o poeta.

Penna-Y-Fan è la vetta più alta del Galles meridionale, situata nel Parco Nazionale di Brecon Beacons. A 886 metri (2.907 piedi) sul livello del mare, è anche la vetta britannica più alta a sud di Cadair Idris in Snowdonia. famosa per essere l'area di addestramento e il parco giochi dell'unità delle forze speciali britanniche SAS, probabilmente la seconda montagna più trafficata del Regno Unito dietro Snowdon, dopo la tua sfida potrai riposarti una buona notte e un drink celebrativo presso il nostro alloggio a Brecon.

After a bite to eat and a pit stop in Dolgellau, we headed over to tackle Cadair Idris, (Penygader), one of the finest mountains in wales, at an elevation of 893 m (2,930 ft) above sea level. Cadair Idris means 'Idris's Chair' featured on the Men of Harlech song they say if you spend a night at the summit you will either wake up as a madman or a poet. We took on the Pony path, more information on this and other routes up Cadair Idris can be found here

After making our way down into the Brecon Beacons to our final mountain of the challenge and well within our target time of 24 hours, a pit stop was arranged en-route where the team had a shower, a good feed and a few drinks after an amazing days hiking. After a few hours sleep it was a 7.00am start, a good breakfast and it was onto Pen-Y-Fan, the highest peak in south Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 886 metres (2,907 ft) above sea-level, it is also the highest British peak south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia, famous for being the training area and playground of the SAS british special forces unit, probably the second busiest mountain in the uk behind Snowdon. It was rather quiet for a Sunday and the group made it up and down in just one hour and fifty minutes having completed the Welsh 3 peaks challenge with two hours to spare. A fantastic effort and well done to everybody who took part.
